Currently the institute is the only one research organization in the North-West of Russia operating under the Department of Informatics, Computer Science and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Right now the research personnel of the institute includes 35 doctors of sciences, and more than 60 candidates of sciences (Ph. D). The institute has numerous professional links with research, educational and industrial organizations doing research and development in the similar fields inside and outside Russia, in CIS and other foreign countries. The above contacts were maintained through joint works under the Russian and European programs (INTAS, COPERNICUS, ESPRIT, Eureka, ICT); the research funded partially or to the full scale by the Russian and foreign organizations and companies (FORD, MOTOROLA); bilateral exchange of scientists for short and long terms programs. The institute is well equipped with modern computers, and has an access to international computer networks.
